In this project I wanted to tackle the phenomenon of how women are sold, often used as a marketing tool, in many advertising campaigns and images in pop culture.
I photographed ten young women and asked each to voice their opinion on media and its portrayal of women. My intention was to photograph these women in a way that was different from the conventional image - in a way that honoured them while also portraying their beauty.
The more abstract photographs are small but powerful details - they show how gesture and the body can be incredibly beautiful in a very simple, quiet way - contrasting the blatant style of many ads today.
