...The goal of an advertisement is to grab one's attention, but I feel as though the present popular means of accomplishing this is through shock value. The more risque an image is, the more attention it receives, eventually creating an unspoken competition between companies to create the most shocking images. I feel that because women have always been used as one of the most popular selling tools in the world of advertising, the drive to create the most attention grabbing image has negatively affected the way they are portrayed.

...The majority of images that portray women, especially in the fashion industry, exploit the female body in a sexually explicit way. Not only does this brainwash girls to think the ideal body and way of dressing is like that of the women in the media, but it also brainwashes the male gender into thinking that a sexy woman looks and dresses like the models in advertisements. I believe that the way women are portrayed in today's media creates a sick fantasy world in the minds of both men and women. A world where women think they should strive to be sexy and thin and men are only attracted to this stereotype of "sexy."
